Welcome to
Women's Ministy
at FPC!
The women’s ministry of FPC is a discipleship and service ministry intentionally focused
on encouraging women in gospel-centered faith, doctrine, character, and community to equip women to use their God-given gifts sowing encouragement, compassion, and mercy in Christ-like love.
Our vision is to see women of all ages grow in their faith in Jesus and then live in relationship with others in life-giving ways for the glory of God.
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
Paul’s letter to the Corinthians
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
How can you be discipled?
-
- Attend a fall or spring Bible study to meet with a group of women, usually on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. See updates in the church bulletin for more information.
- Be a part of a small group specifically gathering to work through a book addressing particular topics like identity, singleness, marriage, parenting, sexuality or aging with grace. Book groups form more organically and meet in one another’s homes and may run from 4 – 10 weeks depending on the content and desire of the group of women. See Holly Kisly or Hope Aikens for more information.
- Interested in Systematic Theology? A group of women has been meeting regularly on Monday afternoons studying the Word of God to mine the depths of its truth and to encourage one another in understanding God’s spoken Word. See Lory Wood for more information.
How can you serve?
-
- Living for Jesus gives us an outward disposition to loving others. So, we encourage women to look for natural or organic ways to build friendships and care for one another: meeting for lunch, having coffee together, creating a play date, visiting each other in our homes, and spending time together around shared loves.
- Our current ministry opportunities include a Visitation team, a Make-Them a Meal team, a Take-Them a Meal team, an Adopt a Family team, the WinGs Support team, and a Card team. All women are welcome to serve, regardless of membership. Consider your gifts, desires, availability, and how you have been loved by others. After praying and asking God for wisdom, choose a ministry team. Serve on a particular team with a group of women for a commitment of 2 years. Meet with team members for planning, usually on a quarterly basis, so you may be present with one another for encouragement and growing in friendship.
Visitation Team
Ministry description – Visit women of FPC who are more homebound, in a season of caregiving, recovering from a surgery, or could benefit from making connections. Donna Kalb gathers with a team of women keeping them aware of current needs and ways to encourage one another during a visit. Contact Donna Kalb for more information.
Make-Them a Meal Team
Ministry description – Meet with a team quarterly to prepare meals that can be frozen and distributed with short notice. Possibly be the one to take the meal to someone on short notice. Judy Parks organizes the food needed and schedules times to gather and prepare meals. Contact Judy Parks for more information.
Take-Them a Meal Team
Ministry description – Respond to a need for meals for church members during a prolonged period of stress, illness, loss, or after the birth of a baby. Contact Holly Kisly at office@firstprescrossville.org to make sure the church has your email address.
Adopt a Family
Ministry description – Encourage a family with children at FPC by praying regularly for them. Then think of simple ways to let the family know that you are praying. Write a brief note and put it in their box, send a card or text, or speak briefly with them at church. Contact Holly Kisly for more information.
WinGS Support Team
Ministry description – Plan with Bonnie Stanley for WinGS events 4 times a year. Help with setting up, decorating if necessary, serving, offering rides, and cleaning up. Contact Bonnie Stanley for more information.
Card Team
Ministry description – Gather with Sherry Nichols 2-3 times a year to make special cards to send to church members on birthdays, anniversaries, or loss. You can also be a part of a team writing cards, choosing prayers and verses to share. A schedule is made to share the load of writing and sending cards. Contact Sherry Nichols for more information.
