Welcome to
Women's Ministy
at FPC!
The women’s ministry of FPC is a discipleship and service ministry intentionally focused
on encouraging women in gospel-centered faith, doctrine, character, and community to equip women to use their God-given gifts sowing encouragement, compassion, and mercy in Christ-like love.
Our vision is to see women of all ages grow in their faith in Jesus and then live in relationship with others in life-giving ways for the glory of God.
For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
Paul’s letter to the Corinthians
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
How can you be discipled?
-
- Attend a fall or spring Bible study to meet with a group of women, usually on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church. See updates in the church bulletin for more information.
- Be a part of a small group specifically gathering to work through a book addressing particular topics like identity, singleness, marriage, parenting, sexuality or aging with grace. Book groups form more organically and meet in one another’s homes and may run from 4 – 10 weeks depending on the content and desire of the group of women. See Holly Kisly or Hope Aikens for more information.
- Interested in Systematic Theology? A group of women has been meeting regularly on Monday afternoons studying the Word of God to mine the depths of its truth and to encourage one another in understanding God’s spoken Word. See Lory Wood for more information.
-
Pray regularly for the ministries and people of FPC. A group of women gathers with April Marion the third Thursday morning of each month at 10 a.m. to pray over the needs of the body. After meeting together, women enjoy going out to lunch together.
- WinGs – Women in God’s Service is a group of single women 65+ who meet formally 4 times a year for enjoying a meal with one another and helping with a service project.
-
YAH – Young at Heart is a group of women in their 80s or 90s who meet monthly at a local restaurant for fellowship and to ponder a spiritual truth together. These women want to remain steadfast in their faith in Christ and love for one another. Contact Pat Duck for more information.
How can you serve?
-
- Living for Jesus gives us an outward disposition to loving others. So, we encourage women to look for natural or organic ways to build friendships and care for one another: meeting for lunch, having coffee together, creating a play date, visiting each other in our homes, and spending time together around shared loves.
- Our current ministry opportunities include a Visitation team, a Same-Day Meal team, a Take-Them a Meal team, an Adopt a Younger Woman/Family team, the WinGs Support team, Widow’s Hope, Event Decorating/Planning, and a Card team. All women are welcome to serve, regardless of membership. Consider your gifts, desires, availability, and how you have been loved by others. After praying and asking God for wisdom, choose a ministry team. Serve on a particular team with a group of women for a commitment of 2 years. Meet with team members for planning, usually on a quarterly basis, so you may be present with one another for encouragement and growing in friendship.
Visitation Team
Ministry description – Our visitation team strives to come alongside the elders to help with shepherding visits. This group of women will visit other women who are more homebound, in a season of caregiving, recovering from a surgery, or walking through a trial. The visitation team may arrange small group lunches or gatherings to help newer women make connections. See Hope Aikens if you’d like to help with visiting FPC members.
Same-Day Meal Team
Ministry description –This team is made of 6-8 women committed to blessing someone with a meal when there is an immediate need. A meal usually should be purchased or made and delivered the same day as the request is made. See Val Wyson if you’d like to be called to make a meal when there is an immediate need.
Take-Them a Meal Team
Ministry description – This opportunity is made known to the entire congregation. Requests to serve by providing a meal will come through Val Wyson at Planning Center and usually anyone can sign up to make and take a meal at a specific time. We use www.takethemameal.com for scheduling purposes.
Adopt a Younger Woman/Family
Ministry description –Encourage a young woman or a momma with children by praying weekly for her. Then think of simple ways such as greeting her at church or sending a brief note by card or text (maybe once a month) to let the woman know you are praying.
WinGs Support Team
Ministry description –Occasionally there is a need for a team of women to help with offering rides, decorating, serving, or cleaning up when there is a WinGs meeting. See Bonnie Stanley if you’d like to help with these meetings.
Widow’s Hope
Ministry description –Widows’ Hope is a group of women dedicated to coming alongside and being present with another woman who has experienced the loss of her spouse. This team lovingly and thoughtfully looks for ways to care for a woman who is grieving so she can grieve with hope. See Darlene Gendjar if you’d like to be on this team.
Event Planning/Decorating
Ministry description –Help plan, decorate, and clean up for special group gatherings like brunches, Spring tea, or showers. See Megan Hankins if you’d like to be contacted for helping with gatherings.
Card Team
Ministry description – Create cards or share the load of writing cards to send to church members. Cards are sent out to encourage a person, express sadness at a loss, or to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. See Sherry Nichols if you’d like to help with this ministry.
