What to expect on a Sunday morning…
People gather before Bible study for all ages at 9:30 a.m. You are encouraged to come early and visit with other folks and enjoy refreshments.
At 9:30 a.m. age appropriate discipleship classes are available for children ages 3-5 and 6-12 and teenagers and adults. Currently, the younger children are learning about the Kingdom of God, and the older children are learning about the Covenants of the Old Testament. While the CEC is being renovated, teenagers and adults are meeting together to study Revelation. Following Bible study, people continue to gather and visit with one another. Weather permitting, many children are on the playground.
Welcome and announcements for our corporate worship service begin at 10:45 a.m. From the start of the service to the finish, our desire is to hear God speak through his Word, to offer prayers and praises back to him, and to rehearse the gospel of grace. The service lasts about an hour and 15 minutes.
We delight to share in the Lord’s Supper Table at least once a month, usually on the first Sunday of the month and special calendar days like Maundy Thursday or Good Friday.
Our habit has been to meet on Sunday evenings for worship, but for the winter months we are not meeting. When a month has a 5th Sunday, we will meet with other area PCA churches, in either Algood at Grace Presbyterian Church or here at FPC.
Childcare
Children are always welcome to attend any service or Bible study with their family, but for most Bible study times and the morning worship service, we do offer care for the youngest children.
During the morning worship service, a nursery is available for children ages 1–3 years, staffed by two volunteers who have been cleared to serve by leaders at FPC and Protect My Ministry. Their goal is to provide a safe and peaceful environment for play and appropriate discipleship. Another nursery is also available for mommas to use with their babies.
Special Needs
If a family member, child or adult, has a special need, we want to be sensitive to how FPC may best serve him or her and the primary caregivers. Please reach out to Pastor Andy, another elder, or a deacon.
Membership
Interested in what it means to be a member at FPC? Take time asking questions, visiting this website, and contact Pastor Andy. Membership classes are conducted on an as needed basis, usually in a small group. Two resources that will be used in the conversations during that time include What is the Gospel? by Greg Gilbert and Living Stones: Why Church Membership Matters by Peter Dietsch.
