Our Beliefs

Identity & Mission
We belong to the family of the Redeemed. Transformed by the grace of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we are delighting in the supremacy of God in all things as we reach up to Him in worship, reach into one another with biblical teaching and shepherding care, and reach out to the world with Christ.
So that in everything Christ might be preeminent.
Colossians 1:18
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a Christ-honoring community shaped by the truth of God’s Word, loving one another and welcoming all those in need of God’s grace. Our desire is that, by the grace of God, our worship of God will fuel our work for God.
Him we proclaim…that we may present everyone mature in Christ.
Colossians 1:28
We Are Christian
First Presbyterian Church affirms, together with all three major branches of Christianity and all orthodox Christians throughout history, the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon, believing them to be faithful expressions of what Scripture teaches about who God is, what he has done, and what he is doing and will do in the world. You can read these creedal statements at the links below.
We Are Protestant
First Presbyterian Church affirms the principles of the Protestant Reformation, also known as the Five Solas of the Reformation: Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, accomplished by the finished work of Christ alone, and authoritatively communicated to us through Scripture alone, all to God’s glory alone. You can read a fuller explanation at the link below.
We Are Reformed & Presbyterian
Among Protestants, we believe the best expression of what Scripture teaches is to be found in what we call the Westminster Standards. Our pastors and elders take vows to uphold and teach the doctrine contained in these standards, so this is the fullest and most accurate statement of our faith. Also, our church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America.
